We have 2 weeks to do this, a family of 4 with grown up children, all are licensed to drive. Taking a 2006 ML300. Wants to go to see Mt Rushmore and Yellowstone Park. Any suggestion of a route to take to see more places worth seeing, economical hotels and highways with service areas. Parents are taking medications and need to go to bathroom often.

Be sure to rent bikes. You can download the app to your phone and rent from the various stations sprinkled throughout the city. Good biking along the East and Hudson rivers with various bike lanes that cross the island. It's a great way to see the city without the hassle of riding in a taxi or uber. Also recommend buying a transit pass for the subway and bus system, getting a map.

please be careful if you rent/ ride bikes in NYC. It has not been a good year here for bike riders! Stay on the bike paths and don't ride on city streets.

This week a man was killed I queens and Wednesday another rider was hit. It’s the damn cabs and Uber drivers. They just drive and cut people off. They cut into the bike lanes to pick up and drop people off. It’s terrible.
