I think mine happened when I downloaded CCleanser.
Is there a good anti virus download? is there any free one?

Dave I have tried the first two steps. the media converter ads do not show up when I go to uninstall programs.
on the second step, malwarbytes, the only thing that came up was pre installed programs.

Ok. Malwarebytes has always been a good resource for me on things like that. Have you restarted? Maybe things are fixed now?

If still struggling with this:

Firtst thing I'd do is a Google search for the exact wording you see in the popup. If nothing else you should find out the name of the malware responsible for the popup. Once you have its name you can search for how to get rid of it.

As Makai Guy said, find the name of the malware. Once you have that, you can go into your computers registry and eliminate it. Don't let that scare you, as you may or may not know, it's really fairly simple to do. ;)

That can block the pop up, but won't get rid of what's causing it.

Here's what I do when I suspect a malware problem. Install and run these programs. If the first doesn't find the problem continue with the next, and so on. No single program catches everything, but if you run all four of these, it should be a pretty 'clean sweep'.

If problems continue, post in one of these forums for specialized malware removal help:

Is this just a Microsoft problem or does it also happen on ChromeBook or Apple computers...

I like Adblocker Ultimate better than Adblocker Plus.

I think I finally got rid of it, went into chrome extensions and deleted it.
Malwarbytes and spytracker never found it. I really appreciate all the advise and help.
