Sometimes I feel like I’m tied to timeshares. I wish Yellowstone and Iceland had more/ some timeshares. Two locations on my bucket list I haven’t been to because I can’t exchange into.

This is why we rented from a Worldmark owner for Yellowstone.

For me- it is anywhere where there is a national park. Not that I exchange anyway, but I like timeshare/condo resorts and prefer to rent those over a hotel- IF they are nice ones.

Central Ohio (we'd love to spend time in Amish Country there) and the Hershey/Harrisburg area of PA. Suites at Hershey is tough to snag! We'd love to spend several days at Gettysburg, and then explore the surrounding area.

  • Even though I don't plan on going any time soon, I would say mainland Alaska (like Anchorage, Fairbanks, and possibly north of there). Imagine if they built one on the north side of Fairbanks, you could see the Northern Lights easy!
  • Central Wyoming and/or Montana, where there is nothing for 10+ miles in either direction.
  • Central South Dakota, near the Badlands National Park
  • Green River UT, an oasis on I-70 where there are no services for 2 hours in either direction (they have a couple truck stops, restaurants, supermarket, a couple hotels, not much else).

After spending 4 days in Rapid City,South Dakota I wish a timeshare would come into the area. Lots to see in the area especially if you don't mind driving to see the surrounding area and cities.

I was thinking the same, especially about Montana, having just done a road trip through there, and for South Dakota where we are planning on going for our next big road trip.

So let me see if I understand. We want timeshares in all these underserved places. OK. So do we want to have sales weasels to run us through that wringer every time we exchange our $1 Grandview to go there, or triple or quadruple our MF so there is availability in Badlands, or Green River, UT? Are there REALLY enough Americans who want to go to European cities to build American TSs there, because Europeans don't go to cities when they vacation? There are lodgings like Extended Stay, or VRBOs or Embassy Suites that offer a larger-than-hotel-room experiences in a wider array of locations than TSs. This might well be a 'be careful what you wish for' exercise.

More TS Coast of NorCal in Monterey/Carmel. Santa Barbara. Even Wine Country Santa Ynez. I am ok being boutique but it would be nice to have more options.

I decided to own in High Sierras, Arnold CA. I know there is a WorldMark as well.

but I'm not sure you'll buy it if they build it.

Not me but I’m not living in the clouds. Developers will build where they can sell not where timeshare owners want to vacation.
Expect more Orlando, south Florida, Williamsburg, Branson, Las Vegas.

I really miss my London Allen House timeshare. But collecting my annual maintenance fee of $700 or so, pales in view of the mega bucks they make selling them as flats in one of the priciest real estate locations in the world.

That’s why you’ll seldom if ever see them in European cities.

I manage to get by with VRBO, etc now when I visit Europe.

Cheers

I don’t think of the badlands being in central South Dakota, more like western South Dakota, but I would think chances are very small of a timeshare in the Badlands, a desolate area and near or within the Pine Ridge Reservation, where 98%live in poverty, per capital income averages $4000.

I just booked an Airbnb in London for October for a week. There are some large corporate-owned Airbnb systems that are super appealing. I love what I booked and it is a tremendous alternative to a hotel as we have a kitchen, washer dryer, etc just like a timeshare.
