I'm taking my kids and grandkids to Disney for Christmas week (all teachers, only opportunity) I've been watching airfare - no movement. Anyone have any tips about buying tickets from Newark and Philadelphia to Orlando?

Oh boy. You just need to keep watching daily. It’s a bit late to get real deals. I booked mine a the day southwest opened their schedule. Ended up around $375 round trip.

If SW is an option for you. I suggest booking and keep checking for drops. Depending on your fare type you can get the difference back in cash or credit to the traveler for one year. No change fees.

SW is wonderful that way. So easy to make changes online and get the credit. If you used miles to book your flights you get them all back immediately. If you paid for the flight you get credit, for a year from the time the ticket was purchased, not the date of the flight. The credit does need to be used by the same passenger. They used to let you use the credit for anyone. That was really nice.

Thank you, Luanne. I was wondering when they would move past March 6.

You can find this information on the SW website under Flight Schedules. They also say to check back frequently as dates can change.

Alaska's having a one-day sale today that's good through the holidays. It probably won't be the last one. You can go to the websites of likely airlines and get on their mailing list. And you can put notification alerts on websites like kayak.com

But "pretty soon" is probably the answer.

I got tickets to London for Xmas week a couple of months ago. I think I got a decent deal, but not fantastic. I just was afraid to wait too much longer.

Check out the deals regularly and book from the genuine ones when the prices seem to be affordable to you.

To OP - check SW today. Surprisingly, my flights for the week just went down $10.

Whenever SW announces a sale of any kind it's good to check their pricing. I've gotten many miles back, and also credits, when this has happened. I'm going to go check all of my reservations again.
