Cody is 6 years old now!

For those of you who followed my long story about getting a new puppy, a dappled black and cream Mini Dachshund, as described here: https://www.tugbbs.com/forums/index.php?threads/new-puppy.201352/ , another year has passed, and Cody is six years old today. It feels as if he's always been with us.

Cody is an awesome dog, and is a great part of the family. We adopted his Special Needs younger brother, Kona, who is 18 months younger, from the same parents. Kona is nearly blind, and Cody is his Guide Dog and Caretaker. They are inseparable. Tremendous heart and spirit in this little guy.

Hi Dave,

I remember when got Cody. If you asked me how old I thought Cody is I would have said 3 or 4 years but not 6. Time flies! Thanks for sharing Cody and Kona's pics.

He's on a very strict diet, but he does get a chew treat every day. Today he'll get an extra treat.

And loves you more than he loves himself. Your dog will gladly sacrifice itself for you. It's humbling.

Thanks. These pictures above are all of Cody. The first one was his birthday picture taken two days ago. The other two are when he was a puppy. Kona is a pure black and cream color - no dapple on his coat. The images below are Kona when he was a puppy, and recently. (He's four years old now.) The one of them playing is one of my favorite pictures. Kona has absolute trust in his older brother. They bonded from Day One, and have been partners in crime ever since.
