Do you need to bring your own tubes for the lazy river? Also, has anyone done one of the breakfast updates lately? Did you learn anything new? We will be arriving there mid-September, so the bonvoy changes should be in effect then. Also, what are your favorite restaurants nearby? It has been nearly 8 years since we've been in Orlando and there have been so many changes! Thanks in advance!! :whooopie:

During our previous stays Lakeshore did not provide any 'floats' for the lazy river. However, the attached JW Marriott hotel did provide them in theirs (which is much bigger but also more crowded).

The LR lazy river is far different than a real lazy river, where tubes are provided. The LR lazy river is REALLY lazy and pretty shallow. Very slow current. That said, you will need to provide your own flotation should you so desire.

You can buy overpriced ones in the Marketplace at Lakeshore Reserve.

No they are not provided. You can buy them in the marketplace or go down the road to Walmart a few miles away and buy them there.

You can get rhe floats filled up in the marketplace.

Someone asked us if we wanted their tubes for the lazy river since they were checking out that day. So we passed them on to another family when just before we checked out.

Our "presentation" in July at LR was not very informative and lacked structure. It really wasn't the typical presentation at all. It may be worth noting though, we are longtime owners who enrolled almost immediately in 2010 and have not purchased any trust points. We're wondering if they were just giving it one last different approach to get us to buy some points. For us, it was a waste of time. Before this last one, however, we usually learned something new during our presentations.

We were there at the end of July for a very short stay and brought our own very innocuous fun noodles. You would not believe the number of humongous floats people had in the very restricted space-wise lazy river. Think 5 or 6 floats tied together or flamingo/turtle floats taking up the entire passage. Wish I had complained to management. Love our home resort but this last visit was an eye-opener. Some rules need updating. On a positive note the resort is in great shape and we really enjoyed our visit.

Our favorite restaurants on International Drive are: Cooper's Hawk Winery (Everyone we bring there is very impressed because everything is delicious, and they have a huge wine list), Maggianos Italian Restaurant, and Del Frisco's steakhouse.

We are also longtime owners, Chairman's Club, enrolled in 2010, but never purchased points. We are hoping to learn more about when we can expect to book Westin, Sheraton, and Hyatt properties.

Thanks so much! We are familiar with Maggiano's and Del Frisco, but we haven't heard of Cooper's Hawk Winery and that sounds really interesting. ☺

The one thing we were told: you will NEVER be able to access those properties without owning trust points. We have no idea if that is going to be the rule, but it was not enough reason for us to spend thousands, as we've been pretty happy with what we've been able to do with our current ownership. BTW, we too are CC.

Sales speak trying to get you to buy points. It might be possible, if not likely, that crossover access will be tied to higher VIP status.

They say this about everything and so far none of it has been true.

The front desk staff will provide a one page list of recommendations for restaurants.
Last month we tried Chimiking (Latin food), and it was fantastic. Very close to the resort
On Whisperlake. They have a whole fried snapper which is wonderful. The fried plantains (crispy) are great. Lunch and dinner are both served.

Thanks for the recommendations! We will definitely go to Winter Park, I remember we found some great shops and restaurants there.
