I have a reservation at Lagunamar arriving Nov. 9th, which I booked before airfare on Southwest came out. Well, the price for the 9th is outrageous, so I booked our airfare for the 10th of November, which was half the price of the 9th.

Should I call Vistana to cancel the 9th arrival, or just let them know that we will be arriving on the 10th instead and then our room should be all ready and waiting when we get there. I really don't need the options that we would lose if we don't cancel the 9th.

What size villa do you have reserved? If it is a studio, there is still availability, so you could easily cancel and rebook. Depending on your arrival time, having the checkin of the prior day could be ideal given how long it sometimes takes Lagunamar to get villas ready for checkin.

I think you answered your own question. I would just tell them you will be late, should be able to check-in right away

I agree - just let them know, and your room will be ready as soon as you arrive. We had to do the same thing in Maui a few months ago due to bad weather in Dallas - put us in a day late, but we were in by around 11:00.

Call the front desk at the Resort and ask them to note your new day of arrival. To be safe call them again in the early afternoon of the original date and have them verify that their record indicates your new arrival date. I have done it this way on multiple occasions and it has always worked like a charm...

We have a one bedroom, so not a studio. We will probably get to the resort about 3 pm after a stop at Costco. Southwest changed our flight connection so we are getting there an hour later than what we originally booked.

If there's availability then re-book if you'd like to retain some options. Otherwise just let them know you'll be a day late. We've never had a problem arriving late/leaving early anywhere when it's made sense around air fares/availability.

Thanks all for the advice! I will just let them know we will be arriving late and keep the reservation as is. I checked availability and all the one bedrooms are gone for those dates. Also, if by some miracle the Southwest fares go down for the 9th, we can take advantage and still have a room.

And in good news your room should certainly be available the minute you officially check in. It was ready at 4pm the night before!
