SSR RCI Exchange - Preferred or Standard View?

I have recently been told by DVC Member Services that RCI exchanges at SSR will be standard view because they don’t deposit the preferred views. Is this true? I personally have never received a preferred view on an exchange, but am curious as to whether anyone else has recently.

I haven't, and don't know that I've seen one recently, but I believe they have happened since the we-only-deposit-1BR-SSR change. That doesn't mean it couldn't have changed again, but given the rate of turnover at Member Services, I don't know that I'd trust what any one of them had to say about how DVCMC works.

I've seen plenty of two bedrooms this year. And two bedrooms at OKW.

I guess every time we talk about only 1BRs being deposited and at least 95% of them being SSR, we will need to append "(except for Welk)" every time, in order to avoid being corrected.

Theres gotta be more than just Welk owners that have the same RCI access. Hilton maybe? Four Seasons?

On the sightings board, the only 2BRs at Orlando DVCs that have shown up in the last 5 years have been through Welk.

I've done about 6 exchanges to SSR over the past few years. All have been Standard.

I have had both types but mostly standard view.

I have done four 1BR exchanges through RCI over the past two years, two we landed in preferred and two in regular. I'm guessing you are put wherever they have available.

As for availability, on RCI 99% of units are 1BR SSR with the occasional OKW 1BR unit.

My 2 cents on preferred vs. regular is that because SSR is such a sprawling resort, you are going to find pros and cons no matter where you stay.

I believe SSR preferred means Congress Park which is the last bus stop and closest to Disney Springs.

Standard would be any of the other buildings. Do RCI DVC trade able to room request? If so next closest to DS is Paddock, I think. Or some may want to request to be closer to the main pool / resort dining.

Preferred includes Springs and Congress Park. Yes, you can request an area, but no guarantees (but the front desk tries to grant requests).
