Who knew? Marriott Elites Can Demand a Replacement Benefit If Resort Fee Covers Internet Charges.

Applies to most elites including Gold for high speed. Silver for regular in-room wifi.

Report what replacement benefits you receive on this thread.

Don't be surprised to receive a $10 F&B voucher. That is one (1) for your entire stay regardless of number of nights. I've seen it happen! The alternate amenity is up to the complete discretion of the property.

The St. Regis NYC waives the destination fee for stays, paid and award, of five days or more.

Do you ask prior to arrival or at check-in? If at check-in, do you utilize the app for online check-in and ask through the chat function?

Interesting. We switched from the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort on Maui to the Mauna Kea Beach Resort on the Big Island for a Cat. 6, 5 day travel pkg because when I called to inquire about the Resort Fee of $65, including parking, they said our dates were so busy we would likely not be upgraded. Now we are Titanium, but even as Platinum, Mauna Kea has only charged parking, and always upgraded to an ocean front. But the absence of a real beach at the Wailea was the real deal breaker. We are totally spoiled by the Waiohai and Maui Ocean Club access. I only half heartedly asked about whether the resort fee was sometimes waived, so nice to know it actually can be eliminated if they choose.

We were at Lido House last month and we were charged $40 per day for "amenities" and another $40 per day for valet/parking. There was no alternative parking option available. If I had known that we could have challenged the "amenities" amount, which did include Internet as one of the provided services, we would have.

It was a terrible hotel: bad restaurant and every night the nightclub on the top floor was loud all the way to midnight. We were told we had one of the best locations and furthest away from the nightclub. The restaurant food was so bad that instead of taking our "free breakfast" credit of $18 per person per day, we simply opted for 750 Bonvoy points per night.

We will choose our hotels carefully in future. Timeshare ROCKS!
