Spent a week in Manhattan recently, fun place to visit but would never consider living there. The costs for everything, especially housing, are crazy. I can get a nice house where I live with mortgage payments at about 1/5 the cost of a small 1BR rental unit there.

How about ORE-IDA. Probably taken.

Custom plates are fun but they do identify you somewhat. Especially in a place like Idaho. I think you must have seen ore ida in the frozen food section. If you get ore ida plate every one will think you are in the upper echelons of the oreida corp.

My Son and DIL left NYC a little over 5 years ago. She was born and raised on Long Island, college in NYC, and worked in NYC for about 10 years. He had worked in NYC for about 2 years. Once they got married they decided they did not want to raise kids in NYC nor did they want to live on Long Island and take LIRR to work every day.

I am one who left. I still go to visit often as I have family in nyc.

Most of my family would never leave and can’t understand why I did and some try to convince me to come back but they are the ones who never even visit other places including where I live now.

I like visiting but always am glad to leave back to south Carolina as it is better for me financially and lifestyle wise. For me it was a clear choice, my preference.

I am a proponent of being happy where you are. I will now not bash other parts of the country, but if you are not happy, find someplace else.

NYC is not my particular cup of meat, but currently, it's not a ghost town either

BTW, vacationed in western MA and ventured into upstate NY and I LOVED it.

Cup of meat?
Either never heard. Or spellcheck?

As far as counting departure numbers. It might have to do with drivers license in new States. Kids schooling. Post office address changes
