you completely missed the point.....ALL the TVs and ALL the programming is like this....I would not put up with this in a hotel, why should Wyndham be producing subpar ....for the price of our maintenance.....they should be getting HD.

Forget about what they charge for maintenace fees what is being paid for developer purchases should be enough to upgrade to HD TV.

I very rarely even turn the TV on when I’m on vacation, so makes no difference to me. But, you’re probably right, they should have it for those who would use it.

I have found this to be the case a several Wyndhams. They have all these nice flat screen tvs- but they provide standard def cable so the picture looks absolutely AWFUL on said TVs.

I was at Fairfield Glade during March Madness and was so excited when we entered the room and I saw the huge flat screen TV mounted on the wall over the fireplace. Until I turned it on and saw how awful the picture quality was!!

Rick discovered that the cables were not the HDMI cables at many of the resorts. So they had the nicer TV's, subscribed to the local cable, but the cables couldn't handle the signal. So the picture was bad for a cost of a $10 cable. Rick bought one for us to bring with us way back when, believe it or not.

Not just Wyndham, but others. I have to say that Disney was one of the last to get good TV's and high def picture quality. The older resorts were lacking in those areas for a long time. I couldn't put a finger on when that changed, but it was not right away.

And they have plenty of cold American beer.
Just a short walk across the street with many of the HD TV's not found at Wyndham. What point did I miss?

I agree. Im more concerned about the condition and up keep of the resort and having free parking then having HD TV or high speed internet.

Whenever I glance at those annual budgets that come from the HOAs, it looks like the income pretty much equals the expenses. If HD were to cost a lot, seems like it would drop to the bottom line in maintenance fees. That's why I always turn the lights out when we leave the room. Then again if it's a $10 cable per room they should wise up and do it.

Round the clock happy hour pricing for Wyndham owners at Joe Theismann's would be a plus. :)

I am going to have to pack an HDMI cable the next time I go and try that and see what happens. Becuase if the issue really is just that they don't want to buy a freaking HDMI cable that's insane.

I have a firestick & apple TV, so I may try and bring one of those along as well, just to see how it goes.

I'm really shocked how many are so passionate about watching HD TV while on Vacation. I watch very little at home let alone while on vacation. I'm more concerned about the condition and up keep of the resort and having free parking then having HD TV or high speed internet. JMHO

It depends on the trip. I was at Daytona two weeks ago and watched almost no TV. Mainly just had it on at night before going to sleep. But if I'm traveling during football season or March Madness or things like that than having a good HD picture is much nicer than having to track down a bar to sit in to watch a game.

People need the high speed internet more than anything so they can work remote if need be. A lot of high income people have jobs that allow time off, but require internet access in case of emergency. With these developer prices, I can't imagine anyone who makes less than 100k a year being able to afford their membership retail.

We travel with an Amazon Fire Cube. It's great if you want or absolutely need HD TV. The weak link to a streaming service is wifi signal strength and bandwidth. If you have it, it works great.

There are apps available for the Fire Stick for live TV and on-demand movies/TV shows that work great if the internet connection is stout. The on-demand apps are free; the live TV (IPTV) apps are very cheap. I bought an IPTV package that has every channel you can imagine for $7 a month. Has all the cable channels including the premiums (HBO, Showtime, etc.) and a ton of sports channels. It even has the local ABC, CBS, NBC, & FOX affiliates for most US markets. All in HD.

The basic internet connection is slow at the very best.

Many can't afford it and that is why many resales are purchased at close to $0. Sales con them into believing they can refinance the purchase at a lower interest rate less then Wyndham's 16%. There is absolutely no bank that will loan a penny on something that is worth .05 on the dollar it was sold for.

As a Browns fan HD TV would only make the pain of watching worse.

I agree. Getting reliable streams at resorts/hotels is hit and miss. You can get around it by downloading movies/TV shows prior to vacation. Then, use a laptop w/HDMI out to play them at the resort. Bring along an extended HDMI cable (mine is 20 feet) to run from the laptop to the TV, just in case it's difficult to place the laptop near the TV. Works great. No internet required.
