Do you own a garage condo? Thinking of looking into one for my significant other. If you do, are you glad you got it? Any downsides?

We do not, but my wife best friend has one. Make sure it is at least a 1 1/2 car garage. Our friend had a two (2) car garage with lots of space, with book shelves to storage boxes and metal hooks to hang her bike.
Also, make sure your electric or gas hot water heater is located in the garage and not on the second floor of your cond.
IMO, the only downside, if you forget to cut off your auto in the garage. Carbon monoxide poison. That is why you should have a working carbon monoxide detector in your home or cond. IMHO.

I am not talking about a condo with a garage. It is a condo complex of garages just for car collectors to store, work on their cars and hang out with other collectors. No living quarters above but some have enough space to have a hangout room. Usually comes with plumbing lines to build a bathroom and has a heating/air conditioning system.

Never even considered such a thing, but when I was actively flying, I considered a hangar at the airport for hanging out with other flyers, fiddling with airplanes, Ahhh, nothing like the smell of jet fuel in the morning! I guess this is similar- but different. :)

Where do they have these?

I never heard of it either, but I guess it is like having a storage unit- or as Jim stated- a hanger for a plane- except it is a garage for cars and such. Interesting concept....

DRI: The Point at Poipu, 3 deeded weeks, 1 of which is in The Club.
A friend has one and they love it. It's so big it could hold an RV. He does wood working and now the dust doesn't get in the house. He also put in a car lift. They put in a loft at the end of it and she put her kilns up in the loft for her glass jewelry projects. Because it's not a residence, it's considered commercial property and the bathroom has to be handicap accessible.

I know of an RV condo in Beaumont CA but not of any garage condos. Where do they have them? Can you post a link or two? This would be cool for working on cars, and might even be a cheaper long-term storage solution that your typical storage rental.

How much do these things cost? Are they purchased or are they rentals?
