Hi All,

So really wondering what to do here. I have Grande Vista 3 BDR plat and Surf Club 2BDR Plat. 2020 UY questions here:

Don't need my grande vista as managed to get in on an AC.
No availability left really at Aruba (closed too late)

Is best bet to elect both for points, or is split and then deposit better. I have weeks coming out of my ears right now: About 6 AC all the time, 2018 2019 foxruns deposited, replacement week studio that expires in feb, a 2bdr and 3 bdr that expire in jul with marriott. oh and 4000 destination points that ive never used.

Thx

I guess the question is, how do you see yourself using your weeks/ points over the next 2 years. It sounds like you have plenty of week reservations and certificates/ deposits available. If you deposit for DC points, you will have flexibility to possibly book something you can't get with a week, using points i.e. Surf Club as we use points to reserve every year. Also, with being able to bank any unused points into the following year you should have up to 3 years to use those points.

Another idea is to reserve a prime week (you have platinum weeks) and rent it out to recoup some of your fees. I am doing this for the first time for a 2020 Grande Ocean week and if it works as I suspect it will, will probably realize a nice profit above my fees.

I keep a spreadsheet of my ownership inventory to make these determinations each year and track my points available in current and 2 subsequent years. There are plenty of strategies and ways to use your weeks. Good luck.

If you don't need them, I'd probably elect for points and rent out the points for cash. Easier than renting a week (and probably too late to get a top week now). Gives you a chance to use out your backlog, plus the money.

I too would probably elect for points as it'll give you more options and more time to use them. Especially since you don't need to deposits anyway. Just formulate a plan how you'll likely use them and don't miss the banking deadline next year.

Unless you want to double up on your vacations in the future, I would just elect points and rent them on VPE.
