I did try looking this answer up but I couldn't find it.

I own 5000 points at Lagoon Tower at HHV. I own at several other locations as well. My question is, I want to book a room 12 months out at Lagoon Tower but we are looking at a 2 bedroom so I don't have enough Home Resort Points. Am I able to use other points from other properties to finish the reservation as long as I own a portion at Home Resort?

No, you can’t. When you make a 12 month home season booking, you must reserve you home season, unit size/designation on the home week start day. It has to be that year’s points being used.

I agree with what dayooper said above. However, at the 9 month mark you an add points from other properties that you own to your 5000 Lagoon Points and make your reservation.

By the way you say you own 5000 Lagoon Tower points. I thought that 5000 points in the Lagoon Tower was a 2BR Gold Season. What do you own in the Lagoon Tower? If you do own a 2 BR Gold then you can be book 12 months out during GOLD SEASON. However, if you want a 2 BR during Platinum season you must wait until the 9 month mark and add points.

I have not ever in my 12 year membership made a home week booking.
But if you don't want to chance it not being available at the 9 month mark, follow the rules.

I don't plan to ever make a Home Week booking, in which case points are points. Except for bHC points, which are worth more, if used properly.

Cheers.

Home week reservations have too many criteria that needs to be followed that make it prohibited. We usually want Platinum season and we own Platinum so that is not a problem. However, we almost never stay in the size of the units we own and want to stay way more than a week which is the home week stay duration. Furthermore, starting and stopping in the middle of the week instead of on the home week start day which is usually on a weekend makes for less expensive plane tickets.

Yes, I own in Gold but needed to book in Platinum. I'll keep my fingers crossed at 9 months! Thank you!

Therefore, while the solution is the same either way, your problem is not that you can't add points to your owned week from other properties, it is that you don't own the correct season for the booking you want. While the main benefit to Platinum is that your get more points for the same annual maintenance, another benefit is the ability to book at 12 months the MOST sought after weeks in the year.

I also have never made a home week reservation. We usually check in Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday because the plane tickets are cheaper. We always stay for more than a week. Room size depends on who we’re bring along. We use to always stay during Gold season regardless of what we own. Now we’re restricted to the school calendar.

Booking a 2 bedroom unit platinum season at The Lagoon Tower for 7000 points is a very difficult exchange. It would require 10500 points at The Grand Waikikian which would be a much easier exchange. If you have the points and Oahu is your goal, you may wish to consider this alternative. A 2 bedroom unit platinum season at Kohala Suites or the Bay Club for 7000 points is another alternative if you are willing to try The Big Island. You may also consider an RCI exchange to Oahu platinum season for 4800 points but the rooms might not be as nice.

While a 2 BR 7000 point unit at the Lagoon Tower during platinum season is difficult it is not impossible, you would have a better chance to book a 2 BR Plus in the Lagoon Tower for 8400 which would give you a 2 BR unit on the better Diamond Head side of the building or a 2 BR unit on a higher floor on the Ewa side of the building than a standard 2 BR unit. Furthermore, if available you could book a 2 BR Premier unit for 9600 points which would give you an Ocean Front unit with great views. I would book either of those Lagoon Tower alternatives rather than a standard 2 BR 10,500 point inflated price Grand Waikikian unit. The Grand Waikikian is further from the water.

@Tamaradarann:

Good suggestion. Definitely worth a try. The 2 bedroom plus at a Lagoon Tower for 8400 points is an excellent alternative but would be more difficult than the Grand Waikikian. The inflated cost at The a Grand Waikikian is what makes it an easier exchange.

Yes, the higher cost does make the GW an easier exchange. However, I believe there are many more 2 BR Plus 8400 units than 2 BR 7000 units since floors 3-23 floors are Plus on the Diamond Head side of the Lagoon Tower, as well as Floors 9-23 on the Ewa side; Only floors 3-8 on the Ewa side have Standard 7000 point units. Also, while more points the 2 Br Premium units for 9600 points are are great find and value compared to a standard 2 BR 10500 GW unit.
