Lakeshore Reserve legacy/points question

We own a 'Deluxe' unit at Lakeshore, legacy week. That lets us stay 2 weeks, 1 in each side of the 2 bedroom unit. Is there an option in the points program to use points to upgrade the unit? We currently do not own any points (have a number of weeks 'enrolled'), but would consider buying some if we could use points to get the 'larger' side of our deluxe unit for both weeks. I expect it is not possible, but am hoping someone has knowledge about it to tell us what may work.

Thanks in advance.

See page 31 at this link. If I am understanding you correctly, you would just need to reserve a 1BR Deluxe for each week via points to accomplish what you want. You can not pay for an upgrade to a week reservation with points, but you can elect your week for points, and add more to book both weeks via points into your desired villa type.

The only risk of course with this approach, compared to using your home resort ownership in each side of the 2 bedroom unit for those 2 weeks, is that you are competing for limited points availability at the resort with other points owners.

Thanks Fasttr/Barry, that's sort of what we thought... Not actually able to book our 'legacy' week into two weeks of the large side...

About at our limit of annual maintenance fees anyway, so were hesitant to buy points for this purpose.

Thanks again!

Another option would be for you to buy another week on the resale market, always make your reservations with the two larger sized units back to back, and then reserve the smaller sized units and either rent them out or deposit them into Interval International.

There's always a way to get to the piece of cheese.

I agree with the others that buying another week there allows you to accomplish the goals and that points could work but availability may be limited. Unfortunately you can't lock off and just take points on the one portion. Even though you have a number of weeks enrolled I'm assuming you don't have any you would want to take pts to try to accomplish this goal which would be the way to try to make this work without buying anything else. Another option might be to see if you can find another owner who stays 2 weeks and team up. Maybe each staying 2 weeks one year in the larger side and 2 weeks off years in the smaller side. Of course you could try to exchange the studio or something else you own back in through II to get a 1 or 2 BR. But if part of your goal is not to have to move your chances of success for that wouldn't be great. If you did buy another week you'd want to decide how you were going to use the extra time. Exchange? Stay longer? Rent?

Well, our hope was that there was a simple method of doing our 2 weeks in the larger side, but that looks unlikely without complexity or more in the expense category than we would like. We can just live with our current situation and enjoy the larger side spaciousness when we move for our second week.... thanks for all the suggestions and comments.

You can always ask the resort not to have to move units. I'd say you have almost zero chance of that happening for the larger side and a very small chance for the smaller side though. Maybe someone here will see this thread and contact you with a liaison to alternate usage.
