We're leaving soon on the long awaited trip to France. Yesterday I received an "upgrade" offer from Karma - we had originally exchanged in to a 1 bedroom in Residence Normandie (RCI #2572) and the email indicated that we could bid to upgrade to: 2 bedroom at Residence Normandie, or a 1 or 2 bedroom unit at Manoir Des Deux Amants (RCI 8788). All of the choices indicated the regular cost to upgrade and allowed you to bid for the upgrade. We offered $125 (whole week) to upgrade to a one bedroom at Des Deux Amants (hoping that those rooms don't have the ladder-stairs) and it was accepted (they indicated regular cost was $300). I just found this to be an interesting wrinkle in the exchange experience. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a waste of money.

When we stayed at the Manior Des Deux Amants the 1 Bedroom was all on 1 level. In our week there we did day trips to Bayeux, Honfleur, Giverny, and Rouen. We also spent time walking around Louviers. The town of Connelles is so small when we were there it did not have its own Bakery. You could order from the Front Desk for the next day but it got there so late it delayed the start of the day's activities.

Except for the trip from Paris to Connelles we avoided the large toll roads.

These use to be DRI Resorts but they sold to Karma. Worldmark/Wyndham South Pacific has bought into Manior Des Deux Amants.

Interesting - upgrade was thru the accommodations establishment, and not thru RCI? Hope you'll report back.

We once upgraded for $ thru the place itself when we arrived to check in, rather than thru RCI - in our case it was totally worth it - but we could see what we'd be getting first.

Yes, have a wonderful trip.

Yes - it was an offer to allow us to bid for the upgrade. Interesting that it was received from the establishment, and interesting that it was for a bid. I'm really hoping that by upgrading we are on one level and according to @geist123 above, it should have. The tripadvisor reviews also indicate that it's a nicer place. We'll see how it works out and I will (hopefully) remember to post about this experience once we return.
