My question is, what do the 4 asterisks (****) mean next to "Future Privileges"? Check you contract to see what they represent.

"Enrollment in the new Privileges program, anticipated late 2020 (subject to change). Benefits are currently in development and subject to change. Looks good. As long as the phase, 'subject to change' isn't abused you are good to go and permanently in the Wyndham privileged caste system.

If you currently have exactly 1 million developer purchased points you should have a Platinum membership. Under the new Wyndham published chart, exactly 1 million points is Ambassador, the Gold equivalent. Are current Platinum members with exactly 1 million points going to be at the Ledge level or Ambassador level? Will they be grandfathered even they are short 100K points? Or is this by design to sell them points to become the Platinum equivalent, Ledgen?

According to the supplementary documentation already posted into the master thread for this topic - grandfathering will occur. Grandfathering by definition means you are entitled to the level indicated in the chart provided:

So if you are currently VIPP - then you will be grandfathered into Legend. If you are VIPG you will be grandfathered into Ambassador, VIPS will be grandfathered into Champion. The higher point values, 500k for Champion, 800k for Ambassador, and 1.1MM for Legend, are only to apply to net new Privileges owners after the program has been formally introduced.
