Anyone stay at Wyndham Santa Barbara in the last few weeks?

What is the status of the construction in the adjacent lot to the south? Dust? Noise? Really obnoxious? Effect on sun at the pool or on balconies on the south side of Santa Barbara? Anything else?

I’d recommend calling the resort for two reasons. First, you’ll get a basic answer faster. They may not be honest about the noise or dust, or may not know, but they will at least tell you where the construction is. Second, it its close enough to the check in date, you can request a room furtherest away from the construction.

I'm the one who posts, "Call 'em up!" <grin>

I haven't called the resort for just the reason you suggest. It is a fixed unit on the south side of the building and a fixed week (January).

Ok, so no possibility of being moved I guess.

That's a question that I will need to ask people at the resort. It's a fixed week, converted to points, that I reserved 13 months ahead of time. But, it will be a guest occupying the unit and I don't know how they will treat a guest in this situation.

Here are the answers my own questions, based on a phone call with the front desk at Wyndham Santa Barbara.

The condo building immediately to the south of WSB is complete and partially occupied. Thus, no construction effects at all.

The two facilities are staggered: WSB's building is close to the street and the parking garage is to the west. The condo facility has parking close to the street and the residential building to the west. That puts the condo building to the southwest of WSB's pool and puts the pool in shadow in the afternoon. That's when people bail out and head across the street to Royal Vista. according to WSB's front desk.

The front desk said a guest for "my unit and my week" will be placed in "my unit" at check-in. If I rent the week, I think I'll call a couple of weeks before check-in just to remind them of that.
