I use my old iPhone6 as a music player in the bedroom. I have it docked in the alarm clock, wifi turned on and I can play Amazon music with a prime account. The spa channel is great for a nap.

"Roger" + 1. I volunteer for a non-profit that supports victims of abuse and donating your phones is the absolute best use of them. Thank you!

Our church collects them for distribution to nonprofits for the same purpose. It's a great way to keep them out of the waste stream and help those in need at the same time.

Edited to add: Something that may not be common knowledge is that old cell phones can always be used to reach 911 even when not connected to a paid cell service.

I keep my iPhone 5 for a player when traveling. It has all of my Audio-books (Amazon), music and can be used to cast my Netflix account. Much smaller than a tablet and if it gets lost I'm not to worried.

I recently saw an article with suggestions. Maybe it was on Yahoo but I can't find it.
I Googled "uses for old cell phones" and found several sites with suggestions.
If the screen is good, you could just leave them around the house hooked up to WiFi.
