Travel Times

Looking for the best times to travel to Gatlinburg, TN, Scottsdale, AZ, Bahamas, San Diego, CA, and ST. John. We are flexible, so we can go in the off season if the weather is permitting.
Also interested in the best days and times of the month for best airfares. Any help is appreciated.

I love going to Scottsdale in first half of October. Weather hot enough during day to use pool but it is not the baking heat of the summer. Cools off at nighttime a lot , to the point where you need a jacket, etc. I go every year that time of year.

San Diego: Avoid late May and June -- fog season.

Warmest months are August and September.

"Winter" (Dec/Jan/Feb) is not cold, but usually not pool weather.

The first two weeks of December are usually slow travel times and there are deals to be had, both in timeshare availability and airfare. Most people are done traveling for Thanksgiving, and not yet started on Christmas travel.

I’ve traveled to the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas in May and June.
The Bahamas can be cool during the winter months depending which island you are on. Airfares are cheaper in May & June, and it is before the real heat of the summer and its pre-hurricane season.

For Gatlinburg, I would say Spring. April would be a good choice. Weather should be nice most of the time and the spring trees and flowers can be glorious. Late March is usually nice also, but you are more at risk of a cold spell. The tourists don't show up until mid-May. Fall would be nice if the area wasn't inundated with leaf peepers that stress the infrastructure and make rates go up.

I would add for San Diego, October can be nice weather as well. We are normally there every weekend because we are local.
