they allegedly have a buyer for my timeshare for $12,900 who has placed $5000 in escrow I have to pay about $1,990 for paperwork to effect the transfer including taxes, lawyers and other fees. I think those fees are high but am willing to pay them if they come out of the settlement and not up front. The contract says if the buyer backs out I get 15% of the purchase price plus the $1,990. Are they real or am I throwing out $1,990

It's a scam and they have nothing to do with real Redweek.

Scam. If you need to, contact redweek through their website Redweek.com and verify.

Because it is a scam, they won’t let the fees come out of the settlement, because there is no settlement. They will try to convince you to pay fees upfront stating it is refundable. If you pay, they will come back to you for another fee to be paid. If that is paid, they will come back within another fee, and then again and again, until you stop paying. Then they disappear.

Amazingly, enough people pay the scammers that they remain in “business”. One family lost over $400,000! Congrats on being one of the smart ones by researching before losing money.

Remember the old saying; "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is" ?

It is a scam so you don't need to take any more time thinking about the offer. Run as fast as you can!

Hello!

I just wanted to officially say that it is not us at RedWeek.com. Unless you have a Full Service Resale posting with RedWeek, we will never contact anyone with an offer. We've received many reports of a group of scammers using our name, as well as the names of our team members. We like to keep track of them, so please feel free to send any information that you have to fraud@redweek.com.

Thanks!

This is definitely not RedWeek.com. I have sold and purchased through Full Service.

By looking at the timeshares you own, I can tell you that nothing is worth the money they are offering. Unfortunately, you could be swindled, if you went through with this. Tell them to pound sand. And I did notify someone I know at Redweek about this, so they may contact you and pursue legal action against anyone saying they are Redweek.

Did you list your week for sale on Redweek? That would be important information to include in your post.

RickandCindy, if you can message me who you contacted, I'll reach out to them to let them know that I'm involved in this thread.

Unfortunately, We have tried pursuing it legally and more often than not, there is little that can be done, but we are always happy to have any information that the OP can provide. I advised earlier, please feel free to send any documentation to us at fraud@redweek.com. We also have a page on our site warning of this same scam:

Thanks!
