I know you can switch it into resort credit but not sure how. Does the resort credit have same exp date.

Here is the link for resort credit (login required): https://owners.marriottvacationclub.com/timeshare/mvco/resortcredit

You have to attach the credit to an existing reservation when you buy it. It doesn't say, but my guess is you could attach to a reservation in a future year. BUT, terms say you can't cancel or transfer to a new reservation, so you need to be sure you're going.

If you use travel insurance, you could pay for the Marriott Travelex via those points I believe.

We did it this past summer for some points that were in holding. Contacted customer service and made the arrangements then the concierge had to activate it which we did upon checkin. Combined that with tour bribe for 4 people for the spa.

The resort credit must be used by the points expiration date.
The only choices that can be used past the points expiry are something to do with golf (I don’t, so can’t remember the details).
Insurance.
Or having MVC deposit a unit into II for you to exchange to a non Marriott resort- click interval international under the use points to see how many you need for each unit type.

You can get resort credit for 325 points ($100). I'm pretty sure that you can use that next year if you are staying somewhere that offers it. If you are going to HHI, you can do the same for a SERG group gift card. I know those don't expire right away. I think they are good for a year. I just did this and it was a good use of points given that they would have gone for naught otherwise.
