hey everyone,

Was able to book some short trips using some remaining 2018 points I didn’t think I was gonna have which now leaves me with 13k points left for 2018. Any use in rolling them into RCI? I’ll likely have another 10k points left over from 2019 - but I might roll them into the next use year (2020 or 2021) instead of RCI.

Thoughts?

Maybe book a reservation using borrowed points.

If you think you might have a desire to travel via RCI within the next 2 years and you have a reservation transaction available, then 100% yes. If you're out of RTs, you'll have to decide if it's worth $19 to make the deposit, but those points are worth more than that - but also not so much that letting them expire would be a big waste. We exchange in RCI almost every year, so it would be a definite yes for us.

Can you tell me how it works when you deposit 13000 points to RCI? Can I deposit more points from 2019 use year, and they would combine WITH THE 13000? For example, if I want a one bedroom week with RCI valued at 105K and deposit 92K from 2019, they will combine within RCI to make the reservation?

Hope you understand the question, I have never deposited an odd lesser amount of points to RCI.

Thank you!

What happens in RCI if you are short of points? Like the example above, 13k 2018 + 10k 2019 = total 23k in RCI

(For example propose since I’m not sure if points required)... a couple days in RCI require 30k, is there a difference in lacking points to pay? Rather than letting 30k points left unused?

It seems as though you can rent from Wyndham at $12/1k and then deposit to RCI. I had 9000 points leftover and the minimum is 10K so I had to pay $12 for the extra thousand in order to make that deposit.

As resale, we can only book a full week in RCI. You can always deposit more points and they’ll pool together - you can deposit points from the following year starting on 3/1. If you don’t have any, Wyndham will rent you the points to deposit at $12/1,000 - not a great rate for any but the most high-value exchanges.

Gotcha - so buy $12/1k points to meet the requirement and move to RCI - thanks
