We are in Taiwan, and like most people in Asia and China, there is much symbolism. So a couple of primary symbolic characters are Dragons (good) and Tigers (bad). So here is the Dragon and Tiger Pavillion in Kaosiung, Taiwan. They sit in a lake with blooming lotus blossoms. Beautiful setting with Confusionist shrines etc. The Pavillions are connected to the mainland by zig-zag bridges. They are zig-say because evil spirits only travel in straight lines and can't follow you through a zig-zag. One enters the Pavillion through the Dragon's mouth, and exits through the Tiger's - you wouldn't walk into a tiger's mouth, would you?

That is so cool, Jim! Looks like you've had an amazing trip so far! One you've inspired us to take too someday. I might be "picking your brain" for more information if we can work it out.

I just became aware of one our plantations having a Chinese lantern event on weekends through March 15. We've done our share of riding through Christmas lighted towns and parks over the years but viewing these photos and the thought of walking through this one really draws me back and reminds me of your photo. https://lightsofmagnolia.com

Sounds like a great trip!

Yes walking into a lion or tigers mouth is considered to be very bad luck.

Does anyone remember the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and what animal mouth you had to walk through to enter the casino when it first opened?
