The reason I shyed away from Tribute is because they couldn't tell me for sure if existing reservations would be cancelled.

That was quite a while ago and maybe they know better today how things will work. But for me, it was easier to leave things status quo. I am not in a place where I can risk losing anything booked while waiting for Wyndham to process a transfer, free or not.

I had an account with four different contracts, all in my name and my wife's name. I then purchased a resale contract and placed my wife's name, my name, and our two daughters on that deed. When Wyndham added this contract to my account, both my daughters now show as owners. I have repeated this action several times, adding my brother and sister, and parents, and cousins.

Now, I want to add two more.

From my reading, it appears that a number of members here have done the same thing. I am just wondering if any have done so since the great changes of May 2017?

Does that clarify what I am asking? Hopefully it does.

Wes

Yes, I was successful adding adult family members on a resale deed that was purchased / transferred into my account after the May 2017 system changeover.

A related question on this. Is the only benefit of adding people to a small deed that it reduces the need for guest certificates?
All my Wyndham contracts are in a trust with just me listed as Trustee.

Considering guest certificates are $99 online and $129 over the phone, if this was the only benefit it is absolutely worthwhile. If you have a split reservation or need more than one unit you can save yourself a significant amount of money if you find you are paying for guest certificates. At times I've had to book a night that overlapped to be able to get the whole stay I needed. You can't do that if you don't have someone else's name on the reservation.

The other important thing is if you add them and they are checking into a unit in their own name they will be considered the owner not the guest of the owner. Many of the resorts will not honor requests nor be helpful to the guest of an owner when they want a specific unit, view, floor.

Yes, that's one benefit.

The other is the ability to hold a unit at a resort in each owner's name without the need to pay the guest certificate fee for the duplicate reservation. If you hold a duplicate reservation for overlapping dates at a resort, it'll be subject to cancellation if a guest name isn't added within 48 hours of booking.

Tagging onto this, what is the minimum age you can add children to, say, a resale contract? 18? 16? 14? 13? For purposes as mentioned above, duplicate reservations or overlapping dates. I know they can't check in at resorts until they're 21.

I bought a deed to do this. The youngest was 18 because they had to have a POA notarized. But that was all according to the closing company.
