I have to say the amount of AI resorts is plain ridiculous! As a long time TS owner it’s sad to see you can’t trade into the Caribbean or Mexico unless you pay the AI . I’m also seeing unless you own at that resort you can just book a two bedroom for two people , they require four people in a two bedroom .....maybe if you offered to pay the AI for the four people with just two your fine.

Their money- grubbing ways of requiring AI has run me off from even looking at Caribbean and Yucatan Mexican TSs. Hawaii and their 'resort fees' is coming close too. They advertise low prices and exchanges, then hit you with exorbitant extra fees. Somehow, I think they'll survive just fine without my business.

I've found that Dominican Republic and Jamaica have mostly all-inclusive thru RCI... but there are resorts that - even if they offer all-inclusive - it's not mandatory. I've traveled to Aruba, St Maarten, Bahamas and Puerto Rico thru RCI without doing all-inclusive

Which islands are you looking to visit?

I just did a search and I see 44 Caribbean resorts with availability... some have all-inclusive as an option.

If the dates you want aren't available, try setting up an ongoing search.

We just returned from an optional all-inclusive resort in Mazatlan, Mexico. We were a family of 5 that exchanged into a 3 BR 10/8 unit. The unit was 3 separate units adjoined. It was huge. I believe a total of 2400 square feet with ocean views. The pre-paid all-inclusive fees were $68/adult/day, $32/child/day. I thought It was well worth it. I would not hesitate to return.

Can I ask where you went? We were thinking of the El Cid, but not sure if that's where you were at.

Wow! So assuming 2 adults and 3 kiddos that's $232 a day on top of MF/flights/possible exchange fees. I hope you had a GREAT time! Something like $1600 (a week) in optional AI seems awfully dear to me. Knowing the area there for near 40 years, I think one could spend a whole lot less and support the local economy far more by avoiding the AI. But that's just me.

We stay every year in St john, every year in Cancun, often in Puerto Aventuras, twice at the Grand Luxxe, and once each in Aruba and Barbados. We have never paid any AI fees in these places. It seems your opening statement is a bit overstated.

Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay. It was very convenient to not have to leave the resort. I'm sure others may prefer to explore the town, local eateries, enjoy local culture, etc. The AI worked well for us.

You can keep all inclusive resorts. I’d rather pay for good alcohol and better food.
