I actually called the plat concierge tied with the Aspire a few days ago. They quoted me $580 as the cheapest seats in NYC. This was for a Saturday in March - 8pm.
That's not a bad price...I got an email last week with last minute deals starting at ~ $400 for yesterday and today. Not related to Amex Plat.

Just confirmed that as an old Surpass card member and now an Ascend card member, I can apply for a new Aspire and get the sign up bonus. Otherwise, I can upgrade and pay a prorated an AF.

I actually got the Aspire card about a month ago , already had the other 2 Hilton cards with Amex and got 100,000 points as sign up bonus's on all 3. I also had my daughter get all 3 , one at a time, so she has a nice block of Hilton points also.

Regarding Resort credit -
I'm starting to now see Hilton Grand Vacation Club resorts in the Resort listing for the first time. Has anyone tried the Aspire card to see if they get credit from HGVC expenses?

Now that is interesting and very unexpected. I would not count on this continuing going forward, but great while it lasts :)

Cheers.

Stupid question, but how did you pay just the club due?

Mine's folded into the entire MF for one of my contracts. Did you just pay $179 of say, $1025 or something?

I only had club dues on my oldest contract. MFs haven't posted yet for that resort. Actually, none of mine have posted yet.

Sometimes just the Club Dues bill comes in before the full maintenance fee bill, and you can pay just that. It just seems to depends on where you own.

Personally, I wait and pay all my MFs (I own three weeks) in mid-January. Since the closing date on my Hilton CC is around the 8th of the month, I don't have to actually pay my fees until around March 1st!

Couple weeks ago, when I logged into HGVCclub site and it prompted me to pay the club fee. We all got one free night , just wonder if we can use free night to extend our trip at HGVC.

I noticed that at some point they updated the list eligible Hilton resorts to include many, perhaps all of the HGVC resorts. I know that when i first looked none of the HGVC resorts were there. We own at Kings Land, and that is definitely on the list. Since i have not otherwise used that credit in 2018, i plan to pay my MF before the end of the year.

I had not thought about doing that, but believe it should work. I believe these are Honors reward certificates, so they are probably only good for certain room categories, and likely won't cover a suite.

It will be interesting to see if you get the credit for the Club Dues if paying them as part of the overall MFs (as opposed to separately as above).

One thin I don't see on the list is Bay Club. Maybe because it's an affiliate?

Cheers.

Your probably correct. I don't see Bay Club as bookable via Hilton.com, which means it can't be a Hilton Resort.

I thought that you had to pay for something at a resort. How did you get a resort credit for a club fee? What Resort?

Wow! Granted, all mine are in Vegas, and I've never gotten just the club dues by itself in the 10+ years. Although seems Flamingo is really quick about putting their MF online as my others are at the Strip location. Flamingo's the only one "ready" to be paid.

Although I'd think it wouldn't matter if it's $179 or the full MF, the credit card merchant code should be the same, regardless, no?

With Amex (and some other cards, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve), the category credit can count for things that one wouldn't think it should, LOL.
For example, the Amex and CSR state you get $XXX for "airline" credit, and usually specifically exclude Airline gift cards. BUT, there's all sorts of data points on Flyertalk that folks can buy $50 airline gift cards (depends on the airline, what denomination works) and it gets coded as an "airline" credit, so they get reimbursed for that.

I'm guessing it's the same thing here. Quite possibly when HGVC processes the club due, they're coding it in a way (maybe it shows up as like: Hilton xxxx) and that triggers the Amex credit. The process is automated.

I would think that (unless HGVC codes only the club dues this way, vs. the MF), that your MF would be elilgible as well (up to the dollar amount) for the credit.

But I don't have the Amex Hilton cards anymore after the big devaluation last year. I switched to Starwood/Marriott.

So I'm guessing that even the regular MF would've been counted (I don't have the Aspire card, so not sure what the limit is on the credit).
BUT that makes the card more valuable, IMO.
Resort credit is $250, I got credit $176 club fee and $74 from MF. I'm waiting till Jan 2019 , I will have $250 resort to pay the rest of my MF . I don't see any downside to get Aspire card.

$250 resort fee, one weekend night , $200 airline fee and Diamond status give you free breakfast and free room upgrade.

I can use the free weekend night before or after my HGVC booking, late check out 4 pm . HGVC check out is 10 AM, too early.

I have paid hgvc reservation fees and have stayed at a few hgvc resorts that have charges such as parking fees and have not triggered the $250 rebate. What did you do to trigger this? The charges post as hgvc and others post as hgvc from the properties and they have not triggered the rebate.

I think in Bao’s case, he was paying the maintence and club fees, not reservation or charges at the hgvc resorts. Although one would think that if MF qualifies for the $250 credits, charges at hgvc should also qualify. Has anyone else received the $250 credits after paying MF? If it works, upgrading from Hilton ascend to aspire really makes a lot of sense.
