I see no recent reviews or discussion about Nakoma (the Sierra Nevada golf resort with a Frank Lloyd Wright designed clubhouse and villas). Old postings back to 2006 infer bankruptcy, but this property seems to still be open and selling. We are interested in staying there since it is possible to trade via II (our home resort is a Hyatt property). I know it probably is not up to the standards of Hyatt properties, and may be a bit quirky) but I would be interested in ANY recent experiences.

note: we don't golf, but like the location for proximity to other areas.

Thanks in advance for any tips or info.

Has anybody stayed at the Villas at Nakoma? This post seems to be the most recent information. The most recent review is from 2006. I seem to remember it was added to II under a new name/management several years ago??? I'm looking for something different and am interested in any information about this place.

Thanks
Sue

Year or so back we stayed nearby in Graeagle, and visited Nakoma for dinner. While we were there, i did pop into the sales office and asked about the butterfly villas - it seemed like they were tryingto get control over more of them andonly offer them thru Elite (which i am not familiar with in trading). It sounded a bit uneven. I am really regretting not grabbing the one opportunity i had spotted, because i have never seen them showup again thru II (tho i honestly don't check very often). We drove thru the developemnt and specifically looked at the villas. The main FLW dining room is still a stunner. I understand that the Dragon is a really challenging course (we are non-golfers)and the setting is beautiful.
