There are a lot of young married & senior couples purchasing from the developers at some very
prices IMO.

Hey Brian. First off, I love what you do in these conversations and the responses passionate travelers have-always a good read, so thank you!
So my first thought was “that’s a lot of B’s people are spending on timeshares so clearly we need to spread the word about TUG.” But then another thought occurred and that was if people stopped buying from developers, their cash flow would dry up and new resorts could not be built if everything happened on the secondary market. I’d love to hear your (and other TUGers) thoughts about this. Thanks! Todd

I agree. In fact several times I have reminded WMTC Members (who want new resorts) that if no one bought from the Developers there would be no new resorts and there would be no deals on the resell market.

at 10b a year, i dont think TUG is at much of a risk to ending retail developer sales anytime soon!

however your point is absolutely valid, and if more people knew about resale...it would indeed force the industry to change significantly (at least at how new sales were done)...but they have been able to maintain their stranglehold on the knowledge about resale for over 40 years now...so its hard to imagine what could happen to change it drastically even over the next 10 years.

everyone thought that with the rise of the information age that timeshare owners as a whole would discover "enlightenment" on a much more regular basis, but that clearly has not happened (or at least hasnt happened to the extend of making any significant dent on the retail side).

I still maintain that even now with so much info in the palm of your hand, the average timeshare owner does more research on their next big screen TV or i-phone than they do when buying a timeshare.

Yeah... who wants to be stuck with a real crappy phone or big screen TV....
