No discounts at regular Hilton hotels.

You can convert your HGVC points to Hilton Honors points and book a room that way. Some people seem to find that attractive, personally i prefer to use my HGVC points for a timeshare as I find better value that way.

You can get a discounted cash rate via "Open Season" booking at HGVC resorts. Believe that is available 30 day prior to booking.

For me at least, AAA seems to offer the best discount with Hilton. I am sure other program like AARP, have similar discounts.

If you’re an Hilton HHonors member you get HHonors pricing. The prices are displayed when reserving a room on Hilton.com. It’s a little bit of a discount. Bigger discount if you’re willing to pay up front and no ability to cancel.

If I book anything that that's non-refundable, it's only becuz I'm damn sure gonna be there... come hell, high water, or a death in the family. Like, if it's only a 2-3 hr. drive and within a week. Otherwise, the refundable price is safer... even with trip insurance which can be problematic.

If you have AAA, I find that their rate is usually cheaper than the HHonors rate.

I usually won’t take the gamble with the non-refundable rate. Usually only $10 or so difference in my experience. Not worth my gamble.
