I’ve been using expired coupons for over 20 years. By habit, I just keep those coupons that are mailed to me and toss everything else (I hate mail). I have a stack of the coupons, so you now perhaps understand that I would not have paid $29 unless I had already checked if the coupons I had would work online (I also remember searching for online coupons and reading about them...it was rather clear that most aren’t good online at the time).
With the coupons now good online, it does call into question the validity of the paid program. Of course, I think I did stop by the store in January for something small and it was nice not to bother with a coupon and just show the app for the 20% discount.

We have been using expired coupons for several months now because we have been renovating three bathrooms, and we had a lot of purchases to make. (We have also used BB&B for years for routine items too.)
The problem with the coupons, however, was not the validity (old ones are still honored!), it's the fact that many coupons
are only good for one item, etc., and by the time you figure it out, there are many coupons that don't help.
And have you ever showed up and asked, "Honey, did you bring the coupons?"......... "NO, I forgot." ($#!* !!!!!!)
AND, the worst part, if an item is returned, you only get a certificate good for that day (IF they are kind enough to re-issue one),
so the value of the coupons is diminished or totally gone. Basically they cannot be used again in many circumstances.
When we heard of the annual program for $29 from the sales clerk after dealing with a handful of various coupons,
some which helped and some which didn't, we jumped on it. Now we get 20% on each full purchase.....no wondering, no handfuls of purses full of coupons that have to be sorted and paired with items to try to come to the best deal.....
and now we get the best discount offered.
$29???? come on, that's nothing. Especially when you shop there often....and why not? They have so much.
Can't believe how much easier it is, and the savings are good and the confusion is gone.
The frustrating game of coupon collection is over and done with. Hooray.
