have an upcoming stay at Nanea. Does one get points for island activities charged to the room, like my room charges?

Yes. You should receive BonVoy points for this (there are some exclusions that may apply - like taxes or items provided by third parties). Verify that they have your number on file at check-in.

Does that mean we'll receive Bonvoy points when paying with a Bonvoy credit card? Or are the points somehow awarded just for spending, no matter which credit card is used to pay?

This has not been my experience. We got points for Market purchases, Food/Drink (excluding tip/tax). We have always struggled getting points for excursions we booked, even if located on property and charged to room. We also haven't gotten points for our Ferry Tickets (in St John) either. The points I am referring to are the Bonvoy Spend Points (10x-17.5x).
It is still in your interest to charge all things to the room and use a Bonvoy Credit Card to get 6x as you get that on your bill including all taxes as it is awarded based on the total charge to your credit card.

I know they have talked about giving you points for things like Spa services, and resort related services; but I haven't seen that. Many on site services are 3rd party partnerships.
