We are thinking of the dolphin tour or a snorkel boat. Is it less expensive and more reliable to book at the hotel? (We are staying at Fiesta Americana), or book online in advance? If booking online which site do you recommend?

The advantage of the hotel is that we can work around known weather. However if online is significantly cheaper we may opt to have less flexibility.

Why not book online when you get there? Or do the discounts require advance purchase?

We have only done whale watching and used Cabo Adventures. We found them to be professional.

I am not sure if things book up in Cabo, but sometimes we wait until we get there to see the actual weather forecast. Some days can be sunnier, or less windy. I would touch base with the concierge at FA and see what they suggest.

There are about 3 swim with the Dolphins Tours. In 2 your are in a large Pools like Sea World. There is one in the Harbour of San Jose del Cabo. So you are in the Harbour/sea water. This is the one we prefer. There are small floating docks with nets hanging below. The Dolphins can jump out whenever they want. They sometimes do but always seem to come back. As one of the Handlers explained they feed them very well.

Whale watching can be hit or miss. If you have a car and snorkeling gear you can drive to Chileno or Santa Maria for snorkeling and swimming. Get there about 8am. Fewer people, little wind, or waves. These are the two beaches the snorkeling tour boats use.

If you are there from November to March there is snorkeling with the Whale Sharks in La Paz. If arranged in Cabo the cost can be $180 - $200. If you drive to La Paz very early you can go for about $35 to $50 from a couple shops or street sellers.

All arranged tours will provide round trip transportation from your Resort.

From November to May there is the Thursday night Art Walk in San Jose del Cabo.

There is a Camel Ride. All the the Camels are neutered rescued male camels.

Depending on how good of shape you are in and how adventurous you are there is an event with Cabo Adventures that includes zip lining, cliff climb, wire bridges, and repelling.

My DD and DH would like this.

What do you do for medical coverage? I have booked part of the visit on Chase Sapphire to get the medical evacuation and disruption coverage.

Is there a travel policy that you recommend? No health issues but I do worry about extreme sports with no international coverage.

We always stay at WMTC and we have their Emergency Travel Insurance. Once when Patti was very sick - spent most of 3 days in bathroom - I contacted them. They told me if the Doctor said she needed to go to a major Hospital They would dial up the Jet Air Ambulance and fly us to New Zealand or Australia. Lucky that was not necessary. Never understood why Patti got the severe GI Infection and I did not. We had eaten and drunk from the same sources that day. Though while snorkeling Patti went off in a different area. There were lots of boats that day. She has always thought a boat pumped its toilet and she accidently swam through it.

You can't go wrong with Cabo Adventutes. Talk to the concierge or activity person at the resort. We have used this company in Cabo for zip line, dolphins and snorkel tours. The same guys own Vallarta Adventures and we use them every trip to PV. Very safe tours with really good guides and equipment.
