I would like to get some pros and cons on the property in Borgo Alle Vigne in Italy. We lived in Italy in the past when in the service, and love going back. The maintenance fees seem to be low and the prices OK on the resale market. We are going to stay there this coming September. We would not go back every year, but would use the points along with our other HGVC properties for other vacations. We are familiar with other HGVC properties, and the Borgo Alle Vigne property seems to book up quickly. I would love to hear some plus and minuses on this. Thoughts???

We stayed there in 2016. It is a beautiful property but you need a car because it is in the country. Would definitely return next time we are in Italy.

re: Owning. IMO I would prefer to own a U.S based property and trade into Italy at 9 months - especially if there are no plans to return every year. IMO there are two risks:

1) currency fluctuation
2) lack of knowledge of Italian land laws etc. If something does go wrong, it is a system that is out of my wheelhouse. IMO I would prefer to own where I am somewhat familiar with the legal system.
