Hi,
My husband and I bought in Jensen Beach Florida through the Starwood network in 2008.... it is a 2 bedroom floating week worth 81,000 star options. We are looking to buy more as we would like more staroptions to vacation in other resorts for longer periods of time. We almost bought from the developer at our owners meeting.... after looking on here I am glad we resisted. My questions are these:
- If I buy resale will my star options combine allowing me to book one vacation on the vistana website?
- What is the difference between buying resale vs buying from the developer besides saving tons of money?
-Where is the best place to buy Vistana staroptions resale? From what I am reading it sounds like flex options are not all they were cracked up to be in the owners meeting.
-Everything I read says to do my research.... where do I begin my research.... I don't know what I need to know.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INFORMATION YOU CAN PROVIDE :)

Hi @aprilshowers and welcome to Tug. The first place you can start research is on the Vistana forum. It has articles and guides to get you started. This is a Vistana FAQ. It goes through the Vistana system and also summarizes the differences between developer and resale bought units. If you need further help, ask your questions in the forum. Now, I’m not a Vistana expert, but I do know you want to buy a mandatory unit as the points will transfer. There are only a few resorts that are mandatory, but you get the flexibility of using your points. I could be wrong, but voluntary resorts lose the star options once the transfer through resale.

You’ve come to the right place for help. Do your research and enjoy the benefits of resale!

I’ll second vacationtime1’s post. You can buy some real cheap SVV timeshares (Bella & Key West). We bought three for a dollar each + closing costs and these are mandatory, which means the staroptions transfer to you. Main thing is to do your research!

I agree with looking for Bella or Key West phases at Vistana Villages to get the mandatory options. Don't get another Beach Club week.

Thanks so much for the info and the related links. I have began to sift through it. I guess my next questions is where do I look for these resales? ebay? I get nervous I am being swindled.
Thanks for the help

Right here on Tug. We have a marketplace where owners can sell and rent their timeshares to others. The link is right here: http://tug2.com/timeshare-marketplace.aspx

Redweek is another place to look: Redweek.com

Good luck!

Svv mandatory platinum season can no longer be found for a dollar. Probably around 2k including closing costs for a 2 bedroom 81,000 SO
