“Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will open in Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif., on May 31 and in Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando on Aug. 29.

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the opening dates of the highly-anticipated park areas during the Walt Disney Co.'s annual shareholder meeting Thursday.

Iger called the Star Wars-themed areas "by far, the largest lands that we have ever built."

"The excitement and the anticipation for these lands is just unbelievable," he said.

Iger said Galaxy's Edge will open in two phases. On opening day, guests will be able to experience its "Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run" ride, enabling them to take the controls of the iconic spaceship from the Star Wars franchise. Dining, shopping and character experiences will also be open.”

Thank you.

We will be there in November. Not a priority or "need" to try to get in - but if the opportunity comes up/able to - why not.

We have my daughter's wedding there so that will be the priority/focus of this trip.

Not a "Star Wars" fan - but always interested in anything new in Disney :)

We will be there in January and are hoping that both rides will be open and that a little of the furor will have died down. But we expect it to be crowded and busy. Rumors are that the FP system will change too - hope that will be settled a little as well. Planning to take the family in early 2021 - more time to evaluate how things are going and how best to plan the visit.

We just returned from Disney and while on hold with customer service the message was the announcement of the opening date and it also mentioned that the attractions within the land would not have fast passes associated with them upon opening.

Yep, exactly. Rumor is that the new FP system will involve paid FPs and implementation of same is involved in some way with implementation of FPs for the two attractions in SW:GE. Thus we’re hoping some of that smoke will be cleared by our visit next January and that all of it will be cleared by the time of our family visit in 2021. We don’t expect the crowds to have cleared, just the FP situation so that we can plan!
