I saw quite a few getaways on Interval in London and (wrongly) assumed if they were available in that, I could likely get them with a Grande Ocean deposit. The only option that came up was the 47 mayfair property to even put on my request list. Trust me, i do not expect to get that. But, there were a number of apartments available in Getaways that would be completely fine with me. Why are they not showing up to place a request? When I deposited once before, I could select a huge number of Marriott and non Marriot properties to include in a search.

The getaways in London are rentals only. Those properties aren't timeshares and won't be available for exchange. They are using the interval platform as another rental site. You are correct 47 Mayfair won't ever match a request. There are a lot of timeshare properties that you can request and a fair number that are likely to match. There are none in London.

There are really 3 sources of Getaway inventory in II. Most are deposited by the developer or resorts specifically to be rented out. They almost never are available for an exchange. To become available II would have to move something else out of exchange and rent it out and then compensate the hotel company. You see this sometimes for cheap AI's where the inventory is not timeshare inventory and the developer knows they will make enough on the AI fee that they charge directly. Sometimes a new resort (non timeshare) might give II permission to use a few units for exchange to introduce their property.

The second source of inventory for Getaways is exchange deposited inventory that II thinks they have an over abundance of and they make the unit available as both an exchange and a rental. This can happen in advance but it is more likely to happen closer to check in. The third source can be from inventory that was specifically deposited to use with a cruise exchange or a hotel exchange or Interval options and II or 3rd party that operates those programs could chose to use II's getaways to compensate for the non exchange inventory that the member used. Once moved to getaway it is unlikely to be moved back to the exchange pool.

The higher the rental price the less likely that it will ever be part of exchange inventory.
