Hi, Its my first trip and I have heard there is lots to do besides gambling. I have seen many post on what to do. My question is what resort do you recommend? We typically like resorts that have a restaurant on site, shuttle and updated. Going in April or May.

Thanks

What exchange do you use? Have you looked over the reviews of resorts you are considering? Any of the HGVCs or Grandview- any on L.V. Blvd (The Strip) will fit your criteria.

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
I think I read in the newsletter that grandview just discontinued the shuttle. If you are looking there, you definitely want to double check that.

There's lots of options. I usually stay at Grandview. It's right next door to South Point Casino that has lot's of restaurant options. But there's no shuttle to the Strip. Tahiti Village is quite nice. Has an on site restaurant/bar and a Denny's right next door. They also have a shuttle to the strip. The Polo Tower is being upgraded and is right on the strip. Holiday Inn Vacation Club is right next door to Polo Tower. Neither have their own restaurant but there's plenty of choices nearby. Transportation options on the strip are plentiful between public transport, Uber/Lyft/Cabs, pay shuttles or hoof'n it since you're right in the heart of the action.

Thanks for the reviews. I will be exchanging through RCI. Tahiti Village seems nice by the pictures.

Hi I will be exchanging through RCI, I have checked some reviews but there are a lot of options and I just wanted to get an idea so i could narrow down my choices.

Thanks,

I suppose my first choice of all would be the Flamingo HGVC, or Elara, Tahiti is nice but away from the 'action' and under the airport arrival/departure routes (noisy). There is a Deuce double deck bus that goes up and down the Blvd, but is can get crowded, and if full, it just doesn't stop.

So what non-gambling things do you want to do? Shows are good- but expensive. There are gardens, art galleries, Downtown (not the Strip) has the Fremont Street Experience, then there is Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, road trips to the Southern Utah Nat'l Parks & the Grand Canyon. So much to do in limited time.

HGVC at the Flamingo doesn't have a shuttle, but there is a monorail stop very close by. There are restaurants in both the Flaming to the south and the Linq to the north. It's right in the middle of everything, close to the Bellagio, and such. It's HGVC so it's fairly updated. The only issue might be the Flamingo Go Pool. It can be annoying during the day with loud music.

Elara is a great choice as well as Flamingo if you want to be in the center of the action. The other HGVC resorts (BLVD and Paradise are on the north side of the strip) are very nice but not far from the action if you don't mind walking, have a car or don't mind a cab/UBer/Bus. These properties are closer than Tahiti and quieter but do not have a shuttle. Depending on what RCI offers you can't go wrong with any of these.

Elara would be my first choice. It doesn't have it's own restaurant but, it doesn't need it. It's attached to the Miracle Mile shops and Planet Hollywood Resort/Casino. There's every type of restaurant within a short, indoor, walking distance you could imagine. Elara also has one of the better pool decks and some of the nicer rooms available for Vegas resorts. My only concern would be that, as an exchanger, the chances of getting a low floor looking into the parking garage might be pretty high.

My next choice would likely be HGVC Flamingo followed by HGVC LV Strip location. Flamingo is center strip with access to the Flamingo Resort/Casino. The LV Strip location has a decent convenience store that use to serve some basic food and pre-packaged sushi. The problem with HGVC LV Strip is it's location on the north end. But if you're considering Tahiti Village or Grandview, both which suffer location issues IMHO, it's location my not be such a big deal. For that matter HGVC on Karen Ave (Paradise), which isn't far from the monorail and Westgate's conversion of the old Hilton Las Vegas resort/casino might not be a bad choice. There are several restaurant options in the Westgate Resort and a monorail pass could get you from one end of the strip to the other without to much fuss.

HGVC LV On the Boulevard is very nice too. The pool and hot tub are great for adults and the rooms are nicely appointed as well. It’s a ways from the action so it’s not as busy, but not to far (just a short ride/drive from the middle of the strip).

@dougp26364 post in the thread in the stickies above gives info on many of the TS in Vegas. It’s old (2008), but much of it is still pretty valuable. The Planet Hollywood resort he mentions is now HGVC Elara. I believe this was pre HGVC Paradise (Karen Ave).

We just got back from Las Vegas and would highly recommend Club de Soleil. We got upgraded to a one bedroom at no charge. They have an hourly shuttle that we used once (we rented a car for the week). Room was nice with full kitchen, fireplace, WiFi and two TVs. They had a heated pool, hot tub, tennis courts, and gas grills. Staff was very friendly and helpful and cleaned the room on Tuesday. They are two miles off the strip on Tropicana.

I like Freemont street. There is a mob museum that was interesting. Outside of town heading towards Utah there is the Valley of Fire. It used to be a national park now it's a state park. I have stayed at Grandview, wyndham grand desert which is 2 blocks off the strip and they have a shuttle, or westgate. All were good. Grandview has some real good value deals.....we've stayed there a few times and it was good but I've booked more for my children. Twice the rooms hadn't been cleaned and were very dirty, the staff wasn't very helpful in getting it fixed.

Tahiti Village trades with RCI and is 1.5 miles south of the main strip but it is on the bus line and they have a shuttle.

There is a restaurant in the TS and also a Denny's immediately adjacent to it.

Nice place with a "lazy river".

In terms of what to do/see, you should tell us more about your age, mobility and interests. I could recommend a great national park not previously mentioned but why do that if you have mobility issues. Or I could suggest shooting a machine gun at a local range, but why do that if you are an anti-gun person or a custom high-performance car manufacturer - - but maybe you aren't a car person. So, please come back and tell us what sorts of things may be of interest.
