Creative idea. If you stay at Marriott South Shore or Ridge Tahoe or other South Shore TS, catch this cruise across Lake Tahoe to Homewood Ski Resort on the West Shore.

$188 for Lake Tahoe cruise (round trip), breakfast and adult lift ticket. (Cheaper than many resort day passes. To compare, Heavenly window pass is $154/day.)

For the really adventurous, you can then snowcat to ski Homewood's back country on Ellis Peak. The only backcountry skiing in the Tahoe area.

Here's a write-up in Ski Mag about Homewood (IMHO it's a fav of locals - no crowds and Ellis Peak dumps some of the deepest powder on the Lake)

Oooh! That looks like fun! Our kids learned to ski at Homewood when they were toddlers - it was a great family resort!
