"GPX partnered with Send Me On Vacation to create Revive & Thrive, giving you an opportunity to use vacation ownership to transform the life of a family in need. Send Me On Vacation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that provides financially disadvantaged breast cancer survivors with emotional healing through a vacation experience."

On the face of it, why would you do this when exchanging is always an option. But sometimes you have too many weeks (raises hand) so this is another option - and maybe one that works for you. I am glad that they are partnering with an organization to make this possible. (Remember that you don't get a tax deduction by donating your week - only for donating cash).

I was on the board of SMOV in the past and help sponsor events by sponsoring a golf hole etc. It's really nice to see how this helps someone who has been through a terrible phase of their life.

You're donating over $1000 in vacation time, and it's going to a nonprofit organization. How is this not a tax deduction?

The same way that allowing a non profit org to use your car for a month is not tax deductible. If you want to make a donation that is tax deductible using your vacation time- rent it out and then donate the proceeds to your choice of non profits and then take the deduction. You will have to pay taxes on any profits you make from renting it out but if you rent if for your cost then no need to worry about that.
