I just returned from a long weekend in Orlando. In the past I have used grocery delivery services or did my own shopping. This was a last minute/short trip and I was too late to order via a service nor did I want to take a couple hours from a short trip to deal with.
I ended up trying Walmarts new pick up service and it was great (it appears some locations also deliver). Ok....I will admit I'm not a Walmart fan, but this was super easy and cost effective since Walmart does not upcharge the cost of their items like a similar service I use from a local grocery store at home.
* I put my order in online got pick up on Saturday between 8am and 9am
* Could modify it up until 1:45 am on Saturday morning
* I called phone number provided when I left the resort
* I drove up to the pick up area and within 5 minutes the groceries were in my trunk and I was on my way. The person didn't even look for a tip (I had one) - she said all set and walked back into the store.
What I find even more useful is since Walmart sells so much more than groceries - I could have ordered up pretty much anything they offer - from a toaster to a beach chair to oil for the car to a bottle of wine.
The Target in my area will be offering a delivery service next month. Free delivery in 2 hours with a minimum spend of $35.
Pricing has always kept me away from using services like this all the time at home - but with Target and Walmart offering same as store pricing now - I'm more inclined to do this.
