We will be traveling to the Bahamas during the first week of July. Does anyone have any boat excursion recommendations while visiting the resort? Maybe a trip to another island, or just a day cruising, etc.

We used Captain Carl from Bahama Boat Tours.

He was wonderful, and we had the best time. He is knowledgable about the water and about the islands. We will absolutely call him again on our next visit.
It was the highlight of our trip!

Power Boat Adventures

Upon the recommendation of many people on this forum (including a rave review from Westin5Star) we booked the Power Boat Adventure excursion when we were at Atlantis last September. It was worth every penny and we had a great time!

Our crowd was me and my husband and our four kids (ages 4, 5, 7 and 10 at the time,) my sister in law and her boyfriend and my mother-in-law. Everyone enjoyed it. You can check out all the details on their website, which is www.powerboatadventures.com. But the highlights are as follows:

1 hour fast and fun boat ride out to the Exuma Cays
Quick stop to feed grapes to rock iguanas
Ride over to their private island
Feeding of wild stingrays
Shark wrangling (the employees throw out fish on a rope and play tug of war with the sharks -- we had lemon, nurse and black tipped reef sharks)
Snorkeling
A delicious fresh prepared lunch
Open bar
Hike on the island
General swimming and lounging time
Boat ride back

I think the list price is about $200 per adult and $140 per kid. I believe they offer discounts for larger groups or paying cash. I would pay it again in a heartbeat.

I hope this helps. I have tons of pictures, too, if you want to visualize. I took my regular camera and a water camera...

I've read the rave reports on this trip and would love to do it, but am wondering how "wild" the ride is to the other islands? We did a similar trip (boat wise) with a great company off the west coast of Vancouver Island, but it sent one of our party to the hospital with a fractured vertabrae. On our upcoming trip to Harborside, we've got a pregnant (4.5 months) mom with us. If the boat trip is a thrill ride with lots of bumps, I'm afraid it wouldn't work for our group. So, how rough is it?

Just answered my own question - their website states they don't allow anyone pregnant on their adventure trip! It sure looks like fun, though!
