Mods please move if needed.

We can travel April thought June in 2019. 2 Adults only.
For Him:
So I have no idea why he wants to go to Vegas, we don't gamble.
So I'm not familiar with anything in Vegas. A timeshare that's has a nice size pool , shuttle to the strip if he wants to gamble. He says the flights are cheaper from Detroit in the month of june.
For Me:
I would rather be in New Orleans or even the panhandle of Florida .
I haven't been to New Orleans either and I would love to go there.
30 years since we stayed in the panhandle, and I'm sure things have changed.
So give me the good or bad of these options. Thank you.

Lots of decent beach resorts in South Florida .. it is low season there during April thru early June .. and the pools are heated and the beaches are beautiful. The Indian casinos .. the Hard Rock is very close to Ft Lauderdale. It is warm but NOT deathly HOT and HUMID. Ocean drift fishing, daytrip buses to Key West, outlet mall shopping, paddleboarding, water taxi tours, daytrips to the Everglades, etc.

You have a tough one here. There is plenty to do and see in Vegas even if you don’t gamble. Plentiful shows and different foods to try and places to go and see. Same can be said for your destinations.

We go to Vegas almost every year and we just went to New Orleans. I like them both and they are totally different as would the Panhandle.

There all good destinations and I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either but you’ll have a hard time deciding. Good luck!!

Both would be great, if you've never been. Toss a coin.

Las Vegas weather will be warming up; June can be VERY hot. It was 115 degrees when I was there for a late June wedding a few years ago. Expect sun. Lots of things to see and do without leaving the Strip. Las Vegas is ~three hours to Zion National Park, and is drivable to other great scenery in the desert southwest.

Florida and the Gulf States will be ramping up for the rainy season. Can be very unpredictable weather. Expect sun/rain. Maybe a lot of both. New Orleans is everything you've ever heard about. It's a half hour from Oak Alley (http://www.oakalleyplantation.com/sugarcane-plantation/plantation-tours), and all the swamp/Cajun/Mississippi River fun you could ever want.

How much cheaper are the flights you're seeing? I just looked:

Nonstop flight on Southwest from Detroit to Las Vegas on June 2nd: $169.
One-stop flight on Southwest from Detroit to New Orleans on June 2nd: $126.

If I was deciding on only these two, I'd choose the Gulf and New Orleans at that time of year, if only because the weather would be easier to deal with. Las Vegas, for me, is better in the Fall and early Spring.

Hope this helps.

Dave

She said Florida Panhandle. Isn't that along the northern part of the state?

Yes, it is .. but more airlines flights in & out of Miami and Ft Lauderdale (SWA has a BIG position at FLL airport due to the cruise industry.

Yes Dave the panhandle is the northern part of Florida.
Maybe if I can find a timeshare in New Orleans that has a nice pool and good restaurant near by. I'l have to Remember to show him the link .
What timeshare would you recommend?.

As far as the Panhandle- He'll agree if it oceanfront, and has a pool, I'll want to be able to see the local sites. Can anyone sugguet a place?

I'm not going anywhere near Miami or FLL , I'm looking at the other side of the state.

This link may be helpful: https://tug2.com/tsmaps/TimeshareMaps.html

You can search the areas that interest you, find which timeshares are around the area, and see if they can be booked.

Good luck!

My late wife and I had gone to Las Vegas many times. Neither of us gamble except to throw away $20 on Slot Macines but certainly enjoy the shows and dining. The variety of things to do and see was enough for both of us.

We also had been to New Orleans and the Emerald Coast and enjoyed both.

Three different experiences and all very enjoyable. Along with many others:D

Cheers

New Orleans does have a casino as well, so if you want to gamble just a little you wouldn't have to chose Las Vegas.

Been to Vegas many times...I do gamble. June will be hot. Timeshares aren't too hard to get there. I think Vegas is fake. New Orleans is wonderful....lots of great foodfood, a casino, and the music is wonderful. The beaches on the panhandle are beautiful white sand. I would do NO and florida. Hands down.

I won't disagree with you, but I don't know that anybody ever thought Las Vegas was authentic - for anything. :)
