So after attending an owner update at Parc Soleil. The sales guys really do dislike resale buyers, even when they buy resale from HGVC themselves. I have two previous units, one I purchased from HGVC resale at Craigendarroch (7000 points) and the other I purchased via ebay for a total of 14000 points at another location.

The fine salesman I saw started to tell me there was something wrong with my purchase at Craigendarroch. That it appears as a resale unit not purchased from HGVC. That it does not qualify for HGVC Elite status nor a owner. That they will be locking HGVC resale purchasers out of the point system. And that they are now not even offering to trade in resale units with a buy offer on a new unit. And then he sent me on my merry way after this. A whopping total of 20 minutes was spent in there for my discounted Disney tickets, shortest presentation ever. The gent said he was glad he identified the issue that I was a resale purchaser so early and that there was nothing he could for me.... lol.

What the heck?

Thoughts?

My thoughts are you're lucky. I hope to get discounted Disney tickets for listening to 20 minutes of lies on my next trip to Orlando.

Congrats only 20 minutes, that is a record. Resales retain all benefits of direct except Elite status, but you did save a lot of $$$$ buying resale.

This rep must have been the bottom of the sales food chain because he was not empowered to do anything. We just received an upgrade offer via phone to upgrade to the Ocean Towers and we could have applied either of our units (one developer, one resale).

After attending several presentations, I am of the firm belief that certain sales offices are limited to certain inventory. We've gotten nutty offers to upgrade e.g. trade our NYC with $1400 in maintenance fees for 2 Trump tower units with $2800 maintenance fees because that was all the inventory they had available.

Other venues such as telephone VIP sales, NYC and possibly HHV have better access to inventory and have much greater ability to find a deal that makes economic sense.

Be glad you got out in 20 minutes even though what he said was disconcerting (but not true.)

I concur that you are fortunate. We had not done a tour in 5+ years due to a painfully long experience with someone who would not listen - until last year.

We took them up on a 1br package at I-Drive Tuscany in March and did a Parc Soleil tour. The sales lady hit a new low. Relentlessly I heard how I needed to buy so that I could get more HHonors points and see the world - even though I pointed out that Hilton had raised the number of points needed at most locations and that it was a terrible idea. She reminded me of a broken record, somewhat like the previous sales person 5+ years before - spewing the same lines like a soul-less robot. I was very clear I was not buying, but that did not deter her a bit.

I don't ever want to be in that position again. Life is too short to deal with folks who want your money and don't care if you buy something from them that is worth pennies on the dollar after you leave.
