Does anyone know the process of making a reservation for a unit at the Bay Club using one of the actual Bay Club timeshares (as opposed to one registered with HGVC). I'm in the process of buying a Bay Club timeshare and I assume if I don't join HGVC I won't be able to book on the HGVC site as I usually do (also a HGVC member). I've also heard Hilton doesn't like these old timeshares so I wonder if HGVC gets preference On unit locations, etc.

You'll have to slo-mail or fax in a completed paper form to Bay Club reservations regardless of whether your unit is in HGVC or not.
They did recently accept a change of reservation form from me via email.
And on the HGVC forum , someone posted Bay Club will be accepting email reservation requests next year.

I think Bay Club reservations folks will give preference to owners on unit assignments.
My first visit I booked with HGVC points, and they put us in a more centrally located building, rather than the one on my deed, and honored my request for a ground floor unit.

On HGVC forum, many have said Bay Club reservations attempts to put owners in their deeded unit numbers for home resort reservations.

So the deed is building specific? Haven't seen my deed yet.

Don't recall what level of specificity is on the deed. It is likely Floating 1-50, Unit type, and they also delineated between Penthouse and NON penthouse units. Don't recall if building - unit number are on there, but they would have to have kept track.

You could also have a few fixed week 51 and 52 out there as well, but I think those would sell at a premium.

HGVC does not recognize Penthouse as those are the same points as all other units on other floor, but in fixed weeks they did separate them.

If I were you I would enroll it anyway just for that extra flexibility. But they send a paper in your MF bill and you can fax or mail it back for the next year, i.e. the 2019 MF bill I believe has the 2020 reservation paper if I remember correctly. (I never do it that way so I could be wrong, but that’s my recollection.)

Yes, building specific; there are unit numbers on my deed. The MFs are different by the unit numbers. For example there are A, B type and E, F types for 2 bdrm units. The Es and Fs are in the standalone four-plexes. Es & Fs have more square footage, than As, and As are a little bigger than Bs. My A type has slightly higher MFs than B type. Then the 1 bdrms are C or D. When you do a home resort reservation they will give you your type of unit.
