There are several ways to incorporate images in your posts. Here's how:

    Images found on the internet:

NOTE: You cannot use this method for image files on your computer. They must be images located on a web server accessible on the internet. For images on your computer, see the next section, below.
    1. Right-click on the image and, from your browser's pop-up context menu, copy or save the URL (i.e. web address) of the image file.

    2. When composing your message, click where you wish to place the image in your message to set the position, then click the Image icon ( xf_image_icon.png ) in the tool bar at the top of the message entry form, then enter or paste the image URL obtained in step 1. Click the Insert Image button.
    Images on your computer:

You have two options of how to do this:

    Using an image hosting service:

To keep from filling up TUG's server with thousands of users' pictures, you can upload your image to an image hosting service such as FreeImageHosting, imgur, tinypic, imgbox, or a host of others (a web search for free image hosting will find many of them for you; here's an article listing some of them). Many will accept images without requiring you to have an account, but some may require you to register first.

Once your image is uploaded to the hosting service, the service will provide link information for the image that you can copy/paste into your BBS message.

Or to use the pure URL of the image (i.e. it has no [img] or other tags surrounding it) see step 2, above.
Uploading from your computer to the BBS as an Attachment:

At the bottom of the message entry box, click the Upload a File button. This will pop up the File Upload dialog:

Click the Browse button and navigate to the file location on your computer and select that file. When a file is selected, the upload process will begin automatically.
    • Files larger than the MB limit shown in the dialog will be rejected.

You can use image editing software to reduce the picture size (reduce width and height and/or color depth) before uploading if the file is too large.

    • Files larger in pixels than the limits shown in the dialog will be reduced in size (keeping the same proportions) before being saved on our server.

When the upload is complete the File Upload dialog will disappear and below the message entry box you'll find Attached Files options:
The Full Image button will insert the full sized image at the current cursor location in the message. The Thumbnail button will insert a reduced size ("thumbnail") image at the current cursor location in the message, which, when clicked, will show the full sized image. The Delete button will, of course, delete the uploaded file.

If you do not insert the image(s) to some position in the post, it/they will display as thumbnail(s) at the bottom of the post box.
