This caught my eye in the Washington Post:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...becoming-a-category-4/?utm_term=.9a9abe43969b

The storm is expected to reach a Category 4, and pass a couple hundred miles south of Hawaii next week. However the Weather Service says “It is too soon to know if Lane will directly affect the Hawaiian Islands.” IMO it might make things hotter and more humid tho', with large swells hitting the Big Island.

Last week as Hector (¿?) passed 150 miles to the South of the BI it messed up the weather on Maui and other Islands for several days. More wind, rain, and higher humidity. I assume Lane will do the same.

Wow, I would have thought the fifth state to join the United States would have been on the Atlantic coast!

Sorry if should be our Fifty state. Thanks for the correction.

darn that auto-complete! ;)

yeah, another storm on top of the volcano eruptions won't help Hilo and Big Island economy. When I was there last month on a cruise stop, my mom & aunt from Honolulu asked some of the locals in tourism business how things were going. We heard Hilo tourism was down, so they had fewer work hours :(

Maybe the hurricane will put the volcano out - you know - like a bucket of water on a campfire. ;)

Hmm, i thought maybe the change in barometric pressure might affect the volcano, but according to these articles, no dice.
But you're right about lots of rain potentially having an effect, but not necessarily a good one.
On a quick google search I found these opinions:

No problem I make typos and mistakes in pronunciations all the time. My husband corrects me and says I don't spend the energy to pronounce all the letters. By the way, the fifth state to join the union was Connecticut. While certainly on the East Coast, I don't know if it is on the Atlantic Ocean since I think most of it is on the Long Island Sound. I does get hurricanes but not volcanos.
