Believe I got really lucky.... scored a 7-day reservation at HRC in Maui, Ka'annapali from 1/13/18 to 1/20/18, 2 bedroom, 2200 points. Exchanged for my 1-bedroom in Carmel, diamond week.

Was quite discouraged with all the posts about it being next to impossible. Just wanted to let the forum know that it's possible. I think I was on the reserve list for 6 months or so. Can't recall when I put it in.

Good luck to the rest of you trying.

Great exchange and great season to be there. Bring binoculars; you should be able to see whales from your lanai.

No 'should' about it. The whale-soup runs pretty much all day. Makes it really hard to get anything done.
My advice? Get a bottle (2) of Pineapple Margs from Costco, hang-out on the patio or pool deck and just watch the whales. It's very satisfying.

Congrats! Nice going. I've never stayed there, but had a chance to do a walk-through. It's a lovely resort, and upholds the great Hyatt standards for excellence. I'm also liking Rob's advice :)

Interesting that your booking was confirmed 3 months prior to occupancy. Those units became available 6 months prior (July 2017) at the end of the owner's HRPP. I wonder why Hyatt didn't complete your booking at that time? Maybe there was a cancellation or maybe that's an internal trigger point to allow HRC members to get the unit???

Yes, I thought that was strange too. Probably a cancellation... though who knows? Not going to question it though. ;)

There is a lot of last minute availability, about a month in advance. Where is it coming from?
