I fear messing up...I want to rent my week but I use points. I can actually pick anywhere, any time. Let's say I pick Myrtle Beach, SC in summer. I "cash in" xxx points, pay exchange fees, then come to TUG and post the week. Someone contacts me and we "make the deal" then I go to II and get a guest certificate in their name (have info sent to them). Do I just trust they send me the money? How does it work? Also, did I miss a step in the renting portion?
Please walk me through this.

Not permitted to RENT exchanges offered by RCI or II.

If you rented it and YOUR guest, runs their mouth on the "great deal" or inquiries via phone about WHERE and WHAT they expect from the resort for the fee they are renting from you .. the reservation very well would be cancelled and your membership terminated ... and YOU will be paying your guest NEW vacation condo ... most like a few thousand dollars above what you collected from them.

During our resort presentation, renting it was recommended. They even gave us a website (not TUG) that we could use. Do people rent their weeks and just "keep it quiet"?

A typical sales lie; they will say anything to get you to buy from them for way too much money. It's best to avoid all the 'owner update' aka sales presentations. However, if you insist on going, make sure to get as much money from them as possible and believe virtually nothing of what you are told.

So, if I own at myrtle beach, I can rent that week....but if I own at Williamsburg, I can't exchange that for myrtle beach and rent that?
If that's the case, I can rent Williamsburg, right?

It depends on what system you own. If you have RCI points, then you can't rent a reservation you make with those points. But if you have a points based system like Wyndham, you can make an internal reservation and rent that out.
