Hi, I;m hoping someone can help me.

I have never used an II AC in the last 20 years as I've never found anything worthwhile when I was available to travel. I currently have an AC that expires for travel to the end of April 2018. There are several coastal Maine resorts available for exchange but I'd prefer a date in May 2018.

I called II and unless I pay the $99 to extend my AC they cannot tell me if there is availability in May. I was hoping someone with an AC that goes beyond April could check if any of the coastal Maine resorts are available in May.

I'd appreciate any help more experienced exchangers could provide on this. Thank you.

You should join TUG and then go to the Sightings/Distressed forum. These types of posts are not supposed to be made in the public forums. Its just a few bucks and well worth it!

The problem is that unless someone has your specific type of AC they will not necessarily see the same stuff as you. I have four different types of AC's in my account right now and all four pull completely different inventory.

I see a forum category called private and it says you must be logged in to view. I am logged in but I still cannot view them. Any advise?

Any time you extend a deposit or AC it becomes more limited and generally you can only book during flex change even if you could book futher out before extending. Let it expire and hope you get another. If you are looking at May the earliest you could book with an extended AC (or deposit) would be March 2018.

Great, and welcome. You will learn more than you knew there was to learn here.

I have access to distressed now. But I have no idea what the topic even means. Can someone please explain this to me and how it relates to my original post? I see nothing about sightings which is what I think I was possibly requesting. So confusing.

The Sightings Thread is for listings of exchange options people have spotted. You can look back to see what came up in the past to tell what might show up in the future. The distressed ones are just last minute options. You are looking for May so that doesn't qualify.

You asked for somebody to look up and post a sighting of any May weeks. That type of post would need to be in the sightings thread as a benefit of Tug membership.
Look at the Random good stuff via AC thread; it's a long one. This is where people have posted over the last year or so what they have spotted that they consider worthy of letting others know. The AC's used vary and the one you have may be entirely different. However, you can look to see what showed up last May.

The AC options are always going to be less desirable either by location or time. I don't know if May is more desirable than April by enough to put it out of the running or not. I personally would not pay to extend an AC in hopes that something showed up.

mdurette answered your availability question here, in the sightings thread--which is only available to members (which you are): Maine Availability

This is the WHOLE thread for "Sightings/Distressed" thread (under Private Forums): Sightings and Distressed

To the OP welcome to the TUG website. “ Knowledge is Power” is the TUG Motto. Knowledge and advice will be shared to you by TUG members. Who own a timeshare or two timeshares or some who own three or more timeshare villas: by Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Blue Green, Diamond, Wyndham and so many more developers.

TUG members purchased their timeshare from the developer and most purchased their timeshare resell and saved big bucks liked $10,000 to $20,000 dollars for their timeshare villa.

Welcome and Thanks for dropping in.

The purpose of an AC is to provide incentive for an II member to pay cash for off-season inventory or short-notice inventory. It is II's way to "move excess inventory" before it spoils. I am never concerned over letting an AC expire. If I can use one (which is rare), I think of it as a bonus.
If it is worthwhile to you to use an AC for just a weekend, then check every Thursday night / Friday morning for check-ins for that exact weekend or the coming week. On occasion, there are some gems.
What part of the country do you live in?

Right now there are studios in May in coastal Mass. If you extended your cert you would be subject to flex so you wouldn't be able to book unless they are still available in March.

The only places on the entire Atlantic coast you could reliably get with a cert within flex would be Atlantic City and Coastal central Florida around Daytona.

I think it is fairly likely that once this AC gets close to expiring you will get another one.

Thank you so much for your help. I hope I can become as knowledgable as all the regulars on this site.
